American Idiot

我的第一場 Broadway Show 就獻給喜歡了十年的 Green Day，而且還在 St. Patrick's Day，相當 green。（而且還是下午五點左右才買的票）

American Idiot 是 Green Day 在 2004 年發的專輯，隔年拿下葛萊美獎最佳搖滾專輯，原先在製作這張專輯的時候，就有朝著可以實際搬上舞台或是放進電影裡的方向來執行，後來 2007 年以 Spring Awakening 拿到東尼獎最佳音樂劇的 Michael Mayer，決定把這張專輯真的改編成音樂劇，2009 年九月開始在 Berkeley 試演後，2010 年三月就開始在 Broadway 上的 St. James Theatre 演出，而 2010 年也被提名東尼獎最佳音樂劇（後來輸給 Memphis）。

故事一開始是住在郊區（suburbia）的一大群年輕人，被播放著各種頻道的電視螢幕包圍著，而三位主角 Johnny、Tunny 和 Will 就是在這群年輕人之中，而其中又被叫作 Jesus of Suburbia 的 Johnny 決定與另外兩位好友逃離這個被電視媒體的情況，但再出發前才發現 Will 的女朋友 Heather 懷孕了，所以 Will 不得已只好留下，而 Johnny 就跟他媽媽借了錢買了他跟 Tunny 的車票上路了。出發之後不久，Johnny 在路（Boulevard of Broken Dream）旁公寓窗戶裡遇見了女主角 Whatsername，而 Tunny 看到電視裡的國軍人才招募廣告趕到熱血沸騰就從軍去了，Johnny 在感到沮喪的同時，遇見 St. Jimmy 給了他一劑改變他人生的海洛英，進而使他沉浸在快樂與女人 Whatsername 中，而他最後在 St. Jimmy 的毒品和 Whatsername 之間選擇了毒品，而造成 Whatsername 的離開，同一時間留在 suburbia 的 Will 成天窩在沙發上喝酒跟看電視，Heather 受不了決定帶著剛出生的小孩離開，而從軍去的 Tunny 則在戰場中受了傷，腳斷了的他在醫院裡跟照顧他的護士 Extraordinary girl 天雷勾動地火，在想要尋找自己卻更加迷失的情況下，最後當然是三個人一起大覺醒回到家歡樂擁抱。



劇中的演員講話非常非常少，大部分的劇情都由唱歌的方式交代，而歌曲也是從 American Idiot 整張跟 21st Century Breakdown 其中幾首組成，除了兩三首是 Billie Joe 為了音樂劇另外寫的，有收錄在音樂劇的專輯裡面，所以整體聽起來相當過癮，最後也固定會有安可曲 Time of Your Life。

劇中 St. Jimmy 這個角色設計可以讓 Billie Joe 來演，而 American Idiot 要下片前的幾個禮拜也會由 Billie Joe 來主演這個角色。（4/5 到 4/24，好像就是從明天開始，搞屁啊）
